MISINI 1/35 Scale RAH-66 Comanche Stealth Helicopter Building Block Model

This Misini Comanche helicopter is an excellent build with nice packaging, premium printed parts and a high-quality instruction book with background info. Brick quality is great, though some Technic pins have minor flaws and the tail rotor housing is tricky to put together. It looks stunning on display and offers fantastic value for money.

I ordered this Comanche RAH-66 because I had a great experience with my prior Misini helicopter, the AH-1W Super Cobra. The parts were high quality, they were printed (not stickers), and the model design was structurally sound and looked like the source material. I like this more modern aircraft and appreciate that this one comes with a brick-built stand that is adjustable so you can give it a more action-oriented angle. The stand also comes with a printed name plaque. The large rotors are brick built (so they are straight, vs a single specialized blade piece that arrives deformed out of the box). The tail rotor cleverly uses a black wagon wheel. There is just enough space for 2 minifigures to sit in the cockpit (BYO figures). The landing gear are fixed, but you can manually remove them and fold the landing gear mostly closed. There are also large doors that reveal the payload in the belly. The parts come in numbered bags that are compatible with Lego. The kit came with 3 foldable sorting trays made from card stock, something I’ve seen before from NifeliZ but never from Misini. The instructions come in a premium perfect-bound, matte-cover book with good color printing that should be easy for most builders to follow. At over 1000 pieces, it’s a good value for the amount of detail and quality you’ll experience during the build.

I own a bunch of these MISISI sets. In my opinion they're about on par with the main sets. The instructions is always very detailed and the finished set has an amazing attention to detail.

Nice easy build, made easier by being predominantly one colour. Annoyingly there were a couple of broken parts in my copy and one large piece was missing entirely, which dictates the angle I display the finished model at. The bricks are generally good quality and clip together well, although there are some variations in the colour of some bricks is looked at in strong light. Nothing that ruins the final result though. It's a pretty decent rendition of the subject but I don't think there's enough here to justify the £60 price tag for a non-Lego kit of Lego-compatible parts. To its credit though, the box is higher quality than I've come to expect and the instruction manual is top notch so maybe I'm just being grumpy today!
